Manipura
The Solar Plexus Chakra: Personal Power, Confidence, and Inner Fire
As energy rises from the Root through the Sacral, we arrive at the centre of will, confidence, and self-belief. The Solar Plexus Chakra is where intention becomes action and where we learn to stand in our personal power with clarity and courage.
In the chakra system, the Solar Plexus Chakra is the third main energy centre. It governs our sense of identity, self-worth, and the ability to act in alignment with who we truly are. Where the Root Chakra provides safety and the Sacral Chakra offers flow, the Solar Plexus asks:
“Who am I?” and “Do I trust myself to act?”
This chakra is the bridge between feeling and doing — between inner awareness and outer expression.
The Solar Plexus Chakra – Seat of Personal Power
The Solar Plexus Chakra, known in Sanskrit as Manipura, is the energetic centre of willpower and transformation. It fuels our capacity to take action, make decisions, and hold healthy boundaries.

Meaning and Symbolism
Sanskrit Name: Manipura
Translation: “City of jewels” or “lustrous gem”
Location: Upper abdomen, around the navel and diaphragm
Element: Fire
Color: Yellow — symbolising clarity, confidence, and vitality
Shape: An inverted triangle within a lotus — representing transformation and dynamic energy
Number of Petals: Ten, associated with mental activity, direction, and personal power
Seed Sound (Bija Mantra): RAM
The fire element gives Manipura its activating, transformative nature. Fire digests, refines, and empowers — just as this chakra transforms experiences into wisdom and action.
What the Solar Plexus Chakra Governs
Physically, Manipura influences the digestive system, stomach, liver, pancreas, small intestine, and metabolic processes.

Emotionally and energetically, it governs:
Self-confidence and self-esteem
Personal power and autonomy
Willpower and motivation
Boundaries and decision-making
Purpose and direction in life
When the Solar Plexus Chakra is balanced, we feel empowered, focused, and self-directed. We take responsibility for our lives without controlling others and act with integrity rather than force.
When Manipura is imbalanced, we may experience:
Low self-esteem or self-doubt
Lack of motivation or direction
Over-control, perfectionism, or dominance
Digestive discomfort or tension
Fear of being seen or fear of failure
Balancing the Solar Plexus Chakra
Manipura responds best to practices that cultivate strength, clarity, and conscious action. It is not about forcing confidence, but about reconnecting with inner authority.

Supportive practices include:
Yoga postures such as Plank, Boat Pose, Warrior III, and twists
Breathwork that energises and activates (such as gentle Kapalabhati or deep diaphragmatic breathing)
Mindful movement that builds strength and stability
Meditation focusing on a glowing yellow light at the solar centre
Affirmations such as “I trust myself,” “I act with confidence,” or “My power comes from within”
Balanced action grows naturally when clarity is present.
The Wisdom of the Solar Plexus Chakra
Manipura teaches us that true power is not domination — it is self-mastery. Confidence does not come from external validation, but from alignment between thought, feeling, and action.
When this chakra is harmonised, we stop shrinking or overcompensating. We show up as ourselves — clear, capable, and grounded in purpose.
Reflect & Integrate

Take a moment to reflect on your relationship with the Solar Plexus Chakra:
Where in your life do you feel confident and empowered — and where do you hesitate?
How do you currently relate to responsibility, boundaries, and decision-making?
What aligned action could you take today to honour your inner authority?
Radka's Reflection
I will take a moment to reflect on my relationship with the Solar Plexus Chakra at this very moment.
2026 started with a challenge. My car broke down on the 2nd of January and it is still not mended. I am supposed to start a new job with a teaching agency but it took more than 8 weeks so far to be onboarded and I still do not have a position or clear direction, neither a job. My mother in law passed away on the 17th of January 2026 and today is 18th of January 2026 (her birthday date). We had to split as a family over two different counties so that each of us can carry different responsibilities. One part of me feel stuck and the other know that this is an important transitional stage through the transformation of life. We have to take a decision now to go back to Bulgaria as father in law cannot stay alone or to stay here while the kids graduate. If we choose to stay here we may have to be split as a family every few months until kids finish school....
I can keep going. I have so much to carry constantly. One challenge after the other like a never stopping waterfall. I bet that I am not alone. I know that all mums and dads are or have been experiencing moments like that. I know that business owners and high achievers constantly have to navigate through challenges. I do not know how you navigate through such challenges but I will tell you how I do it.
When life throw a ball at me I first freeze and panic and take a moment to think and decide. Straight away a few options lay in front of me - a minimum of three and the maximum number can be unlimited. I start going forward with the first option that needs no help from others (to go to others is always the last option of choice) and is good for everyone. If not accepted or no good I change and so on until I find the right match for the current situation. I do experience fear and doubt a lot. I imagine each of them as a being and look them straight into the eyes and talk with them. I tell them:
'I see you, I hear you, I feel you. I know that you are here to keep me safe as you love me. I know that you are a part of me and my security guard but I have to grow and move forward. I do respect you but I am calling Courage and Hope today as I need their help to walk me through the current situation. Thank you Fear and Doubt for the heads up of what to expect if things go wrong. I will FOCUS on the things to go right, so you do not have to worry about me.'
And I move forward with confidence and certainty. I do not know about you folks but it has always worked magic for me so far. And I learned to accept 'my mistakes' or the things that go wrong and to learn from them. I actually created something called:

The Ladder
The ladder has a few steps. First I used to see all challenges as obstacles that are very difficult to change if at all. Then with the time I realised that I can convert the obstacles into challenges. That created in my mind that the thing I am looking and dealing with is challenging and can be hard and time consuming but can be fun and enjoyable at the same time and it can be overcome. Then I got to the point where I start to see the challenges as opportunities to shine, grow and go through life with easy. Once I did that I started imagining a ladder that i am climbing up. The ladder has different levels or floors and I always go only up. (I might have missed a step. If I remember it I will share it with you.)
Feel welcome to use Radka's Ladder:
Obstacle
Challenge
Opportunity
Stepping up
Use any technique that help you move forward. Just keep growing and glowing!
I will end today with the following affirmation:
'Whatever I do not change, I choose. What am I choosing today?'
