💚 The Heart Chakra: Love, Connection, and Inner Harmony

As energy rises from grounding, flow, and personal power, we arrive at the centre of balance and integration — the Heart Chakra. This is where strength softens, boundaries open, and love becomes a conscious choice rather than a reaction.

In the chakra system, the Heart Chakra is the fourth main energy centre and the energetic bridge between the lower (physical) and upper (spiritual) chakras. While the lower chakras help us survive, feel, and act, the Heart Chakra teaches us how to relate, connect, and love — starting with ourselves.

Where the Solar Plexus asks “Who am I and how do I act?”, the Heart Chakra gently asks:
“Can I accept myself and others as we are?”

This chakra invites us into coherence — between mind and body, self and other, giving and receiving.

The Heart Chakra – Centre of Love and Balance

Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra, known in Sanskrit as Anahata, governs compassion, empathy, and emotional balance. It is the space where personal power meets tenderness, and where relationships become mirrors for growth rather than struggle.

🕉️ Meaning and Symbolism

  • Sanskrit Name: Anahata

  • Translation: “Unstruck” or “unhurt sound” — the sound of universal love

  • Location: Centre of the chest, near the heart

  • Element: Air

  • Color: Green (sometimes pink) — symbolising healing, harmony, and unconditional love

  • Shape: Two intersecting triangles within a lotus — representing balance between masculine and feminine, earth and spirit

  • Number of Petals: Twelve, associated with qualities such as love, compassion, forgiveness, and peace

  • Seed Sound (Bija Mantra): YAM

The air element gives Anahata its expansive nature. Like breath, love must move freely — inhaled and exhaled — to remain alive and nourishing.

What the Heart Chakra Governs

Physically, the Heart Chakra influences the heart, lungs, chest, shoulders, arms, and immune system.
Emotionally and energetically, it governs:

  • Love and compassion

  • Emotional balance and forgiveness

  • Connection and intimacy

  • Grief, loss, and healing

  • Ability to give and receive

When the Heart Chakra is balanced, we feel open, calm, and connected. We relate without losing ourselves and offer compassion without self-sacrifice.

When Anahata is imbalanced, we may experience:

  • Emotional withdrawal or over-attachment

  • Fear of vulnerability or intimacy

  • Grief held in the body

  • People-pleasing or emotional boundaries that are too rigid

  • Feelings of loneliness, bitterness, or mistrust

Balancing the Heart Chakra

anahata chakra

The Heart Chakra responds best to practices that cultivate openness, breath, and kindness — both inwardly and outwardly.

Supportive practices include:

  • Yoga postures such as Heart Openers, Camel, Bridge, Cobra, and gentle backbends

  • Breathwork focused on the chest and lungs

  • Loving-kindness (Metta) meditation

  • Gratitude practices and forgiveness rituals

  • Affirmations such as “I am open to love,” “I give and receive freely,” or “I forgive with compassion”

True heart balance does not mean constant openness — it means conscious choice.

The Wisdom of the Heart Chakra

Anahata teaches us that love is not weakness — it is intelligence. Compassion does not erase boundaries; it refines them. When the heart is balanced, we stop protecting ourselves through control or avoidance and begin relating from presence and truth.

This chakra reminds us that healing happens not through force, but through acceptance and connection.

Reflect & Integrate

Take a moment to reflect on your relationship with the Heart Chakra:

  1. How easily do you give love — and how easily do you receive it?

  2. Where in your life might forgiveness soften tension or heaviness?

  3. What would it feel like to meet yourself with the same compassion you offer others?

💚 Heart Chakra Meditation | Anahata

anahata the healing center

The Heart Chakra is the meeting point between strength and softness.
It is where power learns compassion and where protection can gently melt into trust.

Take a moment to pause.
Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
Notice your breath — not to change it, only to feel it.

Ask yourself:

  • Where in my life am I open to love, and where am I still guarding?

  • How do I give love — and do I allow myself to receive it fully?

  • What would soften if I met myself with more compassion today?

The heart does not ask for perfection.
It asks for presence.

Move gently today.
Breathe into your chest.
Let connection begin with you.

Dear reader,

writing this blog is very joyful adventure for me. I started with articles from my past and coming to the heart chakra I found myself very connected with it. I am working currently on it subconsciously. This is a space where one will return on and off as it is our center and its balance is very important for balanced, happy and joyful life. All the emotions are expressed and recycled through the heart. I will allow myself to stay in the heart center space for a little longer. I started bridging the heart with the upper chakras through the introduction of the headstand in the previous article. I really want to share with you a few more stories from this space before I move forward. I just changed the entire websites and removed some of the pages. I am not going to start the membership yet. Not sure if I will ever start it as considering building an app. Everything is changing so fast in the online space. Instead of the membership I will introduce one course around the chakras. I recorded it in 2021 straight after I graduated as a 200 hours yoga teacher. The chakras fascinated me from the very beginning and I embarked on an educational journey through quite a few courses about them. Every year I join practical and theory courses about them. I am currently on such one - a deep dive of Muladhara with Mudra Verma. The work that I do on myself affects my work and energy flow, my mind, perception, consciousness, emotions and life experiences. Does not matter if I do clean eating or deep dive breathwork or a course work. The results ripple out. I do not train daily and more into cycle of a certain months. I upgraded my chakra knowledge immensely since I created that chakra course in 2021. The course is great and delivered amazing results for me just that my imposter syndrome or perfectualism did not allow me to publish it until now. I did substantial research on each chakra when I was designing the course back then and recorded all of the sessions in one single day. I hired a village hall and started at 9 am and finished at around 9 pm. I took 10 min break just to change the cloths in between and 20 min lunch break to eat something small. When you invest in this course I recommend you to start it slowly and then to repeat it. Do the recording on each chakra every day for a week - full 7 days and then go to the next one. Once you finish them all, take a day off and do all the chakras from the first to the last with a mini 5-10 min toilet brake between them, including the 2 hours 7 chakras class. The result will be astonishing. I do not use my glasses since then and I could not drive without them before that day as all of the lights used to be blurry for me. There is a headstand as part of the series of course 🙃. I am nearly done uploading it. I am not sure how to name it but however I name it, it will help you come back to center and align your energy, mind, body and spirit. It will improve your flexibility and strength and will give you knowledge on the chakra system. I am considering to gift my blog readers with a discounted link. I do not advertise the blog in any way, neither do I have started the email campaigns and I am so happy that so many of you constantly check on my blog without any announcements. I am very grateful that someone is reading my work and life. I sincerely hope that it is of benefit to you and your loved ones in any good way.

And, voala. Here is the course. Finally uploaded and ready to be used. Enjoy the journey. Embark on the first steps with this phenomenal self practice. Here is the link:

All my blog fans and readers can use the code ALIGN at the check out and will receive £100 off. The code is valid until end of September 2026. Make sure to take advantage of it.

I will be back with more stories soon,
